MOOve your way to Thornbury and have a graze at this modern Australian milk bar. The Old Milk Bar Café serves good honest food and coffee in a beautiful rustic venue. Formerly a traditional Milk Bar in the late 60’s, the new café plays on the old milk bar concept. The original signage, display fridges and exposed brick wall are all features in the new building. Breakfast starts early and is available until 3pm. Crowd favourites here include the soft shell crab cakes and the Matcha hotcakes. The matcha hotcakes are a big stack of flavours with grazed grannie apples, sour cream, macadamia caramel and blackberry curd. Also on the menu are chilli scrambled eggs, egg and bacon sliders, chicken and prawn chowder, Wagyu beef burger and the tuna nicoise salad. The service is friendly and the coffee is great so there’s no excuses – put this place on the top of your list.
